The Coastal Running Company was established in 2017 by Matthew Smith, a Saint Mary's University track and field athlete and business student, to help try and clean up the oceans that they grew up running along.
As a runners who grew up on the East Coast of Canada, Matt had the privilege of running along side the Atlantic Ocean. However, in recent years we have seen human activities to lead to the destruction of our coasts. With the goal of cleaning up the ocean we grew up with, Matt was inspired to create the Coastal Running Company. It is because of his passion for the oceans that the Coastal Running Company will donate at least 1% of all proceeds to ocean clean-up and conservation.
As the Coastal Running Company grew we knew we had to do more to help protect our oceans. That is why the Coastal Running Company is proud to be moving towards being 100% ocean friendly. By eliminating synthetic materials like polyester from their clothing, they are reducing the amount of plastic micro fibers released into our oceans everyday second.
